Fans praying for Big B's speedy recovery

Mumbai/Varanasi, Oct 12: Fans and well-wishers of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan thronged the Lilavati Hospital here on Saturday, Oct 11 night after the Big B was admitted there due to stomach pain.

Following the tests conducted, Abhishek Bachchan said doctors there have diagnosed the condition and Amitabh was suffering from an intestinal obstruction. "He has an intestinal obstruction. He is responding well to the medication. The doctors have requested for 48 to 72 hours of observation. So, we will keep him in hospital for 48 to 72 hours," Abhishek said.

Meanwhile, fans in Varanasi organised fire rituals to pray for the speedy recovery of him. "We organised a fire ritual for long life of our beloved actor. We want him to get well soon and live many more years," said Anand Mishra, a fan.

Amitabh was taken to the Nanavati Hospital on Saturday, Oct 11 afternoon on his 66th birthday. Doctors there confirmed that the Big B was hospitalised due to incisional hernia. Among the tests they conducted were a chest and a stomach X-ray also. The entire Bachchan family including his son Abhishek Bachchan, daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai, daughter Shweta Nanda and friend Amar Singh have been with Bachchan since he fell ill. Later, he was referred to Lilavati Hospital.

In November 2005, Amitabh was operated on at Lilavati Hospital after he developed intestinal problems.
