Pune, Oct 11 ( UNI) World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) will launch a new educational programme titled '' Play true to generation'' during the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG) starting from tomorrow with an aim to prevent sportspersons from doping.
The Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG) will start from October 12 till 18 at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports City Mhalunge-Balewadi.
Talking to mediapersons here today WDA Director Education Rob Koehler said the main aim this programmee is to educate sportspersons, officials and coaches to stay away from doping.
'' We would like the young athletes to keep away from the use of drugs and makee the CYG a clean games,'' Mr Koehler said.
Going by the adage 'Prevention is better than cure' the WDA Director Education said the education programme would go a long way in preventing the young and budding sportspersons from using performance enhancing drugs from an early age.
The high profile sports and the sportspersons suffer from the malady of doping and we would like to make them understand and realise about the ill effects of the drugs, Mr Koehler said.
In order to make the new programme more interesting, lively and athletes friendly, we would be hosting quiz programmes, interacting sessions with players.
WADA would also carry out a survey on the athletes to access what they know about drugs and doping, he added.
