Baripada,Oct 11 (UNI) It is not only the superstitious and the illiterates indulging in human sacrifice, but also the literates.
A triple 'sacrifice' took place in an obscure Mayurbhanj village by a suspected 'tantrik', who is not only a literate person but works as a stenographer in the office of the Assistant Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Baripada.
Banshidhar Mundial had sacrificed his sister Patina Nayak (53), teenaged son Sudarshan (15) and niece Rekha Nayak (13) at his home in Ambjoda village under Betnoti police station limits early today.
Banshidhar's wife Subarna Nayak, a primary school teacher, said her husband had also attempted to kill her and two other daughters during his 'tantra sadhana'.
It was Subarna's wit and intelligence that saved her and her daughters from being 'sacrificed'.
A shocked Subarna said ,however, she could not save Sudarshan, Patina and Rekha from being sacrificed at the hands of a determined and virulent 'tantrik'.
The chilling triple murder by an educated tantrik has sent shock waves in and around Amjoda village with hundreds of people thronging the spot.

Banshidhar has been arrested under section 302 IPC for killing the trio while he was worshipping 'Hanuman' at his residence. A murder case has been registered at the Betnoti police station Villagers said the ghastly murder of the trio on the day following Dussera was the result of the superstitious belief that the tantra sadhana and the killing will bring the killer wealth and happiness.
