Southwest monsoon active over the State

Bangalore, Oct 11(UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by the weather office here at 0830 hrs today.

Southwest monsoon was active over North Interior Karnataka.

Rainfall occurred at many places over North Interior Karnataka; at few places over Coastal Karnataka and at isolated places over South Interior Karnataka.

Bijapur recorded heavy rainfall of 7 cm.

Other Chief amounts of rainfall (cm): Yellapura, Hukkeri, Nagathan, B.Bagewadi 4 each. Gokak, Gulbarga 3 each. Hirekerur, Mudibidre, Karkala, Banavasi, Nargund, Kalasa, Basaralu, Nalwad, Kirwatti 2 each. Mulki, Puttur, Udupi, Bhatkal, Banavasi, Sirsi, Jagalbet, Haliyal, Londa, Bailhongal, Soundatti, Yeragatti Sedbal Belawadi, Navalgund, Jamakhandi, Almatti, Jayapura, N.R.Pura Chintamani, Davanagere, Huliyurdurga, Bandipura 1 each.

Temperatures: Maximum temperature changed little over the state.

They were appreciably above normal at most places over Coastal Karnataka; above normal at many places being appreciably so at a few places over South Interior Karnataka and were normal over North Interior Karnataka. Karwar recorded highest maximum temperature of 34.5 degree celsius over the State.

Minimum temperature fell at a few places over North Interior Karnataka and were normal over Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka. Bagalkote recorded Lowest Minimum Temperature of 17.5 degree celsius over the State.

Forecast valid until Monday morning: Rain/thundershower likely to occur at a few places over South Interior Karnataka and at isolated places over Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka.

Farmers Weather Bulletin: Light to moderate rain likely to occur at a few places over all the districts of South Interior Karnataka, and at isolated places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka.

Local forecast: Partly cloudy. Rain/thundershower likely towards evening/night. Maximum and Minimum temperature will be around 30 and 20 degree celsius respectively.
