Orissa LJP condemns arrest of party president
Bhubaneswar, Oct 11 (UNI) Orissa Lok Janashakti Party spokesperson Amar Samal today alleged that party's state unit president Shibani Debi was arrested to sabotage LJP national president Ram Vilas Paswan's scheduled visit to Orissa on October 14.
Shibani Debi was arrested along with some others in connection with a clash between two groups of people at Cuttack on October 5 over erecting a Durga Puja Pandal on a disputed land.
Mr Samal alleged that the people of Kumbharsahi attacked the dalits of Nimasahi and injured them.
On the basis of an FIR filed by people of Kumbharsahi police arrested several dalits and Shibani Debi while ignoring the FIR filed by the dalits.
Mr Samal said the arrest was a ''conspiracy to sabotage'' the proposed visit of Mr Paswan to the state to extend support to the cause of minorities in Kandhamal and the dalits in the state.
He demanded the government to open a relief centre, book the real culprits and ordered a CBI inquiry into the incident. The party also urged the National Human Rights Commission and the National SC&ST Commission to intervene.
