Bhubaneswar, Oct 11 (UNI) Police today arrested four suspects in connection with the murder of eminent Oriya music director Sumanta Mohanty.
DCP Himansu Lal said police also seized the weapons of offence, a bhojali (kukri) and a pistol besides two rings and a necklace worn by the victim.
Police identified the accused as Manas Ranjan Vedanta, Sushil Samanta Rai, Sunil Jena and Subhakanta Jena of Bomikhal area.
Mr Lal said Manas was the prime accused in the murder and the other three helped him to execute the crime.
He said Sumanta and Manas were class mates in Sangeeta Mahavidyalaya and the murder was in sequel to an old enmity between them.
Sumanta's body was found yesterday wrapped in a bedsheet and packed in the rear luggage space of his own car which was pushed into a waste water pool in Palasuni area.
Police said the accused killed Sumanta after inviting him to participate in a puja committee programme in Bomikhal area.
All the accused would be forwarded to court tomorrow, he said.
