Five held for robbery
Kolhapur, Oct 11 (UNI) The police today arrested five youths in connection with a robbery of electrical materials from a shop here and recovered from them goods and cash worth Rs 1,11,000.
The arrested accused, indentified as Umesh Uttam Jadhav (25), Sandeep Nalawade (20), Sanjay Sutar (27), Kahpesh Khandewal (25) and Krishna Kerba Bhakare (28) (all resident of the city), were working as workers in an electrical shop of one Rajesh Phulchand Oswal, police said.
They had made a duplicate key and were robbing goods and cash often. The shopowner registered a complaint after he noticed the losses. In the complaint, he stated that cash and electrical goods worth about Rs 7,50,000 were robbed.
Acting on the complaint, police laid a trap and arrested Umesh while he was opening the shop with a duplicate key when Mr Oswal went home after closing it in the noon.
During investigation, Umesh revealed the names of his associates.
Following which, the others were arrested, police said, adding, all them were produced before a local court which remanded them to five days police custody.
