Chaos reigns supreme; Kalmadi also not issued accredition pass

By Staff

Pune, Oct 11 (UNI) With just a day remaining before the biggest sporting extranvangza - the Commonwealth Youth Games - is set to begin, total chaos reigned with the organisers in a fix over the distribution of accredition cards.

Things had come to such a pass that when asked about the delay in issuing the accredition cards to the media persons, IOA President Suresh Kalmadi replied that even he had not received his accredition till now.

The organisers had yesterday claimed that the accredition process had been completed and they would start issuing passes. However, this morning they said there was some problem in the computer back up and all the files had been deleted, thereby neccessiating the mediapersons and others to once again have their photographs taken and new accredition cards to be done.

However, the foreign journalists had received their accreditions on time and there was no computer hitch for them at the last moment.

This is not all, with the Games supposed to be inaugurated tomorrow evening by President Pratibha Patil, the full schedule of the games was also not finalised with the CYG website stating that the games will begin with the tennis first round matches at 0900 hrs tomorrow.

However, some of the organisers had stated that tomorrow was a blank day and only the opening ceremony was supposed to be held.
