Utsav Bhasin sent to 14-day judicial custody
New Delhi, Oct 10 (UNI) Utsav Bhasin, son of a Haryana-based industrialist, accused of killing a person while driving his BMW car, was today sent to 14-day judicial custody by a city court.
A Management student, Bhasin, 19, allegedly rammed his BMW into two youths Anuj Aditya Chauhan, 25 years and his friend Mrigank Srivastava on September 11 which left one dead.
Chauhan, riding on Srivastava's bike, later succumbed to his injuries at the AIIMS hospital.
Delhi High Court had dismissed Bhasin's plea seeking anticipatory bail in the case saying the accused had ran away from the spot and did not take the victim to the hospital after the accident.
Bhasin, who was earlier granted bail at Lajpat Nagar police station, was facing rearrest after the police invoked penal provision of Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code, which prescribes life imprisonment as the maximum punishment.
Metropolitan Magistrate Ajay Goel ordered that Bhasin be sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
