TN defeat Kerala by 179 runs, gain five points

Chennai, Oct 10 (UNI) Hosts Tamil Nadu defeated Kerala by 179 runs and gained five points on the final day of the four-day South Zone Under-22 Cricket Tournament for the P Ramachandra Rao Trophy here today.

Chasing an imposing 359 to win, Kerala, resuming their second essay at 106 for four, were all out for 179 in 70 overs.

Praveen Achuthan top scored with 65 (150 balls, 8x4, 1x6).

For Tamil Nadu, off spinners Prabhu and Ashwin claimed five and four wickets, respectively.

Brief Scores: Tamil Nadu 206 and 316 for nine declared bt Kerala 164 and 179 all out in 70 overs (Rajilal 41, Praeen Achuthan 65, M Prabhu 5 for 62, R Ashwin 4 for 68).
