Non-bailable warrant for Thungan issued
New Delhi, Oct 10 (UNI) A city court today issued a non-bailable warrant for P K Thungan, former Minister of State Urban Development, in the housing scam case.
The case was pending before Special Judge (CBI) R K Yadav, in Patiala House Court for pronouncing an order on the charge. The court, however, rejected the exemption application of Thungan and issued the warrant for him and also issued a notice to the person who stood surety for him for October 20.
The CBI had registered a case of corruption and bribery against 18 people, including Thungan, on February 14, 1996 on the order of Supreme Court on a PIL.
According to the CBI, Thungan entered into a criminal conspiracy with the accused immediatedly after taking over as Minister of State in Ministry of Urban Development during January 1993 with the object of obtaining illegal gratification from the applicants of out-of-turn allotment of accommodation and causing them undue favour by allotting out-of-turn accommodation by abusing his official position.
The case was registered under the provision of IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act.
