Fierce encouner in south Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 10 (UNI) A militant of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) was killed in a fierce encounter in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, a police spokesman said this evening.

He said troops of 55 and 31 Rashtriya Rifles, 182, 40 and 130 batallions of the CRPF and the Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint operation at village Khellen, Litter, in Pulwama district of south Kashmir today, following a tip-off about the presence of militants there.

During the operation, militants opened fire and also hurled grenades, ensuing a fierce encounter.

An LeT militant, identified as Moin, was killed.

Some arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant who was involved in several militancy related incidents.
