Delhi Govt gives Rs 200 cr for Renuka dam project
Shimla, Oct 10 (UNI) The Delhi Government has released Rs 200 crore for the construction of Renuka dam project in Sirmour district, which would supply 23 cusecs of drinking water to Delhi during non-monsoon months.
Stating this here today a spokesman of the Himachal Government said that the amount received from the Delhi Government would be utilised for acquisition of around 2000 hectares of land besides relief and rehabilitation payments for forest land.
The HP Power Corporation Limited has been assigned the task of constructing the project at a cost of about Rs 2500 crore. The Central Government would bear 90 per cent of the project cost.
He said that the entire 40 MW power produced in the project would come to Himachal Pradesh and added that the State Government would spend Rs 200 crore for construction of Power House.
The spokesman said that utmost care would be taken to ensure proper rehabilitation of the affected families and to improve their quality of life further.
