Dalai Lama undergoes surgery, doing fine
New Delhi, Oct 10 (UNI) Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama, who was admitted to hospital following severe abdominal pain, today underwent surgery to remove a gallstone.
A spokesman for the Dalai Lama said he was doing fine. ''It was a normal, simple procedure,'' he said.
The 73-year-old Lama had been admitted to the Sir Ganga Ram hospital here yesterday. He arrived in Delhi earlier this week for medical examination.
The spiritual leader had undergone several tests in a Mumbai hospital in August and was advised by doctors to cancel his trips to Europe.
