Nahan, Oct 10 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Forest Minister JP Nadda today accused the Congress leaders of encouraging teachers appointed by Parents Teachers Associations (PTA) in various schools of Himachal Pradesh to agitate.
''The PTA teachers were appointed by the previous government on political basis without verifying their educational qualification and engaged them in government job through back door entry,'' Mr Nadda said while speaking in the closing ceremony of Navratra Fair at Jamman-Ki-Sair near here.
''Thorough enquiry is being conducted and those found fit to teach the students having proper qualification would be allowed to continue the services but those unfit would be removed, he said.
''The Congress leaders should not play with the lives of students and be fair so that students could get education through qualified teachers only,'' he said.
Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee President Kaul Singh Thakur and State Unit secretary of CPI(M) Sanjay Chauhan condemned the high-handedness of the state government towards the peacefully agitating PTA teachers and asked the government to negotiate with protesting PTA Teachers to resolve the issue.
Mr Chauhan condemned the Lathi-charge on PTA agitators at state secretariat on October 6 and said state government is playing with the future of lakhs of students, who are having classes from PTA teachers at the time of examinations.
