Bangalore, Oct 10 (UNI) Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee(KPCC) today demanded Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa to drop the State Fisheries Minister Anand Asnotikar, who was allegedly involved in a murder case.
Talking to mediapersons here, Opposition Leader in the Karnataka Legislative Council V S Ugrappa alleged that the Minister was accused in a murder case that took place in 2004.
He said a police officer investigating the murder of Dilip Naik in 2004 had expressed his apprehension about the involvement of Mr Anand in the murder and sought the trial court's permission to initiate action against him.
Mr Ugrappa said the police officer, after getting permission from the court to initiate proceedings against Mr Asnotikar and his mother Shubhalatha Asnotikar, who is an Congress MLA, had failed to make an inroad in the case.
Denying that the party was making a political demand from the Government, since the Minister was elected as a Congress nominee from Karwar Assembly seat and had switched over to the BJP, he said the Congress came to know about his involvement in the murder case only now.
The Congress would file a petition to the Governor, seeking action against Ms Shubhlatha for her alleged involvement in the murder of Mr Naik, he added.
