Communal clash in Malkangiri,12 injured
Malkangiri, Oct 10 (UNI) At least 12 people were injured, eight of them seriously, in a clash between two communities at Padia village, about 55 kms from here, yesterday.
Malkangiri Police Superintendent S K Gajibhiye today said the problem arose on Wednesday following a quarrel among children while they were playing.
Last night the trivial quarrel took an ugly shape of a communal clash between Hindus and Christians after the elders intervened.
The SP said the authorities had promulgated prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC and deployed one company of Special Operation Group(SOG) besides one platoon of Orissa State Armed Police to maintain peace.
He said the situation was under control and a peace meeting has been convened this evening both at Malkangiri and at Padia to restore peace in the area.
None has been arrested in connection with the clash.
