CM promises action on black marketing, hoarding
Puducherry, Oct 10 (UNI) Chief Minister V Vaithilingam today said the Civil Supplies Department of the Territorial Administration would be geared up to bring to book merchants and dealers in essential commodities if they were found to be indulging in hoarding and black marketing.
The Chief Minister was responding to an appeal from Union Minister of State for Planning and Parliamentary Affairs V Narayansamy while addressing the media here today.
He said no one could escape the provisions of law and stringent action be taken against the offenders.
Mr Vaithilingam said a Cabinet meeting is scheduled to be held tomorrow to discuss important subjects, including the introduction of ''Goondas Act'' in the Union Territory.
Prior to the Cabinet meeting, the views of all political party leaders would be enlisted on the issue and a meeting with them was arranged later this evening.
The Chief Minister also said he would attend the National Integration Council Meeting in New Delhi on Monday.
On the issue of financial crisis, Mr Vaithilingam said the government would mobilise funds without resorting to any new taxation and by tapping alternative sources such as HUDCO, NABARD and open market borrowing.
