Clash over Durga immersion leaves ten injured
Kolaghat, East Midnapore Oct 10 (UNI) At least ten people were injured in a clash between two communities at Machhinan Bazar over immersion of goddess Durga in Rupnarayan river last night, police said today.
Some houses were also set on fire following clashes.
Rapid Action Force (RAF) was deployed to bring the situation under control, police added.
Four persons were arrested for arson and riot.
The trouble began when some people protested blaring of microphone of Durga procession in their area. A quarrel ensued between the two groups leading to fighting between them.
Police said the situation was tense but under control.
