New Delhi, Oct 10 (UNI) BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate L K Advani today urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to reiterate India's position on Jammu and Kashmir in view of conflicting signals emanating from the Pakistani establishment if the violence in the northern most state of the country was 'terror or struggle for self determination'.

In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Mr Advani said he was very happy when he read the statement of Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari that described the militants in J &K as 'terrorists' and 'India has never been a threat to Pakistan'.

However, Pakistan Information Minister Sherry Rehman had clarified on October 6 that the President had made it clear that ''the just cause of Kashmir and its struggle for self determination has been a consistent central position of the Pakistan People's Party for the last 40 years and there is no change in that policy,'' he said.

India's position since the passage of the unanimous resolution in Parliament on February 22, 1994 had been that J &K has been an integral part of India and any attempt to separate it from the rest of the country will be resisted by all necessary means. Parliament had demanded vacation of areas of Indian State of J &K occupied through aggression. Any attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of India will be met resolutely, the resolution said, Mr Advani added.
