2-yr-old still battling for life; Army engaged in rescue operation
Agra, Oct 10 (UNI) Two-year-old Sonu, who had fallen into a 150-foot-deep borewell yesterday was still battling for life.
Army rescue operation was on to save the minor, which had dug 55 ft parallel pit till 1600 hrs today.
Senior officials, including District Magistrate Anil Kumar and Inspector General of police N K Srivastava were present at the site.
Yesterday, Karan Singh's only son Sonu had fallen into an open borewell while he was playing near it, since then Army rescue operation to save the minor is on.
According to sources, Sonu got stuck at the depth of 70-foot in a 150-ft-deep pit. He had made no movement and neither his cries were heard since long.
Meanwhile, SSP Raghubir Lal had lodged an FIR against contractor, Engineer and Gram Pardhan of Shamshadbad.
Besides, Jal Nigam's Superintendent Engineer S K Basant and Junior Engineer R S Yadav have been suspended for dereliction of duty.
Executive engineer (Jal Nigam) Sushil Kumar told UNI that the contractor of borewell had been blacklisted.
Army is working at a fast pace however, as the soil is wet and the area where Sonu got stuck is little marshy it is facing problem in digging the pit, sources added.
Meanwhile, DM Anil Kumar said orders have been initiated to probe into the entire matter.
