TNEB asks industries to disconnect power for 8 hours
Chennai, Oct 9 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) has issued a circular to commercial establishments in the state to disconnect their power from the grid from 0600 hrs to 1000 hrs and 1800 hrs to 2200 hrs, according to the Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI).
The Board also warned that in the event of non-compliance, the power connection would be disconnected and restoration could be sought only after paying the necessary restoration charges, MCCI said in a release here today.
Strongly objecting such a unilateral move taken by TNEB, the Chamber said, ''this restriction is not qualified and it is presumed that it is for a considerable length of time''.
The industry was already suffering from scheduled and unscheduled power cuts. In this context it was unable to comprehend the said circular, the chamber added.
The MCCI appealed to the board to withdraw the circular.
