Sack Raja, order judicial probe into spectrum sale: Vaiko
Chennai, Oct 9 (UNI) MDMK General Secretary Vaiko today demanded that Union IT and Telecommunications Minister A Raja be dropped from the union cabinet following alleged irregularities to the tune of Rs 50,000 crore in the award of contracts for 2G and 3G spectrum to telecom players.
In a statement here Mr Vaiko, who also demanded a judicial probe into the alleged irregularities, said the enquiry should be headed by a Supreme Court Judge.
''To ensure a fair probe, the Centre should immediately drop Mr Raja from the Union Cabinet'', he added.
Quoting the BSNL employees Union, Mr Vaiko said lack of transparency in awarding the contracts led to large-scale irregularities in the deal.
He said the allegations against the Union Minister were serious in nature as the union government had lost huge revenue. But the award of the contracts facilitated by the Union Ministry had helped private players earn thousands of crores of rupees as profit.
