PCB may allow Champions Trophy in another country

By Staff

Lahore, Oct 9 (UNI) Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ijaz Butt today hinted that the board is ready to consider the transfer of the Champions Trophy to another country if the current security condition remains the same.

''Foreign teams refusing to tour Pakistan is not surprising because of the existing security situation in our country. We need to be realistic and we can consider other options if teams refuse to tour Pakistan,'' Butt told mediapersons during his first briefing.

According to sources, if the International Cricket Council (ICC) decides to shift the Champions trophy from the strife-torn country, than Pakistan will ask the apex body to pay a compenstaion fee.

Pakistan was due to host the bienial tournament from September 12th to 29th but later it was postponed after five teams decided against playing in the country due to the security reasons.

The ICC executive board is sheduled to meet in Dubai on October 14 and 15th to reach a consensus on new dates for the Champions Trophy.
