Pune, Oct 9 (UNI) As many as nine athletes from Maharashtra are among the 58-member athletic squad announced today to take part in the 3rd Commonwealth Youth Games 2008 to get underway at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports City Mhalaunge-Balewadi near here from October 12 to 18.
Athletic Federation of India (AFI) Joint Secretary Pralhad Sawant, who is also the secretary general of the Maharashtra Amateur Athletic Association (MAAA), announced the team here today.
Elaborating further, Mr Sawant said five boys and four girls have been selected in the squad.
The nine athletes, who are in the final team from Maharashtra, are Dhiraj Mishra, Kuldeep Bonge, Navin Singh,Chandrakant Manwadkar, Anniruddha Gujar, Pooja Warade, Shradha Ghule, Bhagyashri Shirke, Sayali Dravid.
Being the hosts, India has fielded the biggest athletic contingent among the 71 participating countries.
Athletics events will begin from Oct 14 on the newly laid synthetic track.

Sax Rojsitto, Nikhil Chitrasu, Rakesh Babu,Devendra Saini, Jaideep Singh, Sanjeev Rathi, Arjun Kumar, Krupal Singh,Krishnanath Tripathi, Rohit Kumar, Dharam Vir, Indrajit Singh, Nishit Shetty, Pavan Kumar, Azaruddin Buhari, Ijaz Ahmed, Chandradoya, Narayan Singh.
Girls : Sharavani Nanda, Shipla C. Sunderraj Nirupama, Poovamma , Marian Jones, C,M.Cindiyamol, Surya L., Thara M.D., Gayatri, Jayabala Hemashri, Aishwariya G.M.,Mischel Staney, Manpreet Kaur, Sharmila D.E., Santosh Kumari, Pramila, Komal Rani,Sofia, Kanika Kumari, , Reena Kumari, Rebeca Jose, Chinchu Jose, Arya Chandrika,Jauna Murmu.
