Chennai, Oct 9 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced that an all-party meeting has been convened here on October 14 to prevail upon the Centre to intervene directly and end the genocide against the Tamils in the island nation.
An official press release here tonight said the all party meeting will be convened to press the Centre further to intervene and expedite measures to restore peace, end the war and the killings of innocent Tamil people in Srilanka.
It may be recalled that various political parties have already conducted protests against the alleged genocide against Tamils in Sri Lanka and demanding that the Manmohan Singh government at the Centre should play a direct role to achieve this.
The all-party meeting will take place in state Secretariat at 1630 hrs.
Mr Karunanidhi has sent out invitations to leaders all political parties, the release said.
