Kurukshetra, Oct 9 (UNI) On the auspicious occasion of the Dussehra, former Punjab DGP, K P S Gill today vowed to crush the 'Ravanas' in the country's social and political system, including those responsible for acts of terror.
The festival, which significies victory of good over evil, was used by the super cop to launch the, 'Tehrik-e-Watan', a social and political platform in this historic town where the epic battle Mahabharat was fought between the Pandavas and the Kauravas.
"This will be a platform or organisation to fight corruption and opportunism of politics and oppose the participation of criminals and anti-national elements in the democratic process of the country", Mr Gill said at the launch at the Gymkhana Club here today.
"We intend to mobilise public support and launch a crusade against such anti-scoial elements", he added while addressing a media conference.
"'Tehrik-e-Watan' will provide a wide opportunity to the masses of the nation who see no viable political alternatives to "the venal and visionless leaders who are forced on them by cynical political parties in the parliamentary and assembly polls", Mr Gill added while giving a clarion call to all right-thinking Indians to speak out against criminalisation of politics, communalism, casteism and corruption in political life.
" We will ask the common masses to extend support to this movement of Indian nationalists", he added.
