New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) After an overwhelming response from audiences and widespread critical acclaim worldwide, futuristic Hollywood action thriller 'Babylon A.D', featuring Hollywood action hero Vin Diesel in some breathtaking action sequences, hits theatres across India tomorrow.
Produced by Fox Star studios, 'Babylon A.D', inspired by a French novel 'Babylon Babies' by Maurice Georges Dantec, is a futuristic thriller about genetic manipulation set in the not-too-distant future.
The film, which has some heart stopping action sequences performed by lead actors Vin Diesel, Michelle Yeoh and prominent French actress, Melanie Thierry, has been directed by Mathieu Kassovitz ('Gothika', Cannes-winning 'La Haine' fame), one of the leading filmmakers to emerge from France in the last ten years, and the adapted screenplay has been co-written by Kassovitz and Eric Besnard over a period of five years.
'Babylon A.D' features Vin Diesel as a ruthless mercenary.
In the film, he is a killer for hire in a bleak and starkly oppressive world who takes on an assignment which will change him forever and alter the course of history. He has to smuggle an exceptional young woman (Melanie Thierry) and her guardian (Michelle Yeoh) from a convent in Eastern Europe to New York City. The stakes couldn't be higher and the risks are enormous. Set in the future, the planet is an effective war zone.
The film has been well received by audiences and critics worldwide and has done successful business in all the parts of the world where it has been released already. Those associated with the film are quite positive that the thrilling story line and the breathtaking stunts will attract huge crowds to the screens.
Infact, Vin Diesel is quite excited when he talks about his action scenes in the movie.
''I had so much fun flying through the air on a snowmobile.
It is amazingly cool and so much fun. There is a group of guys we worked with, called The Slednecks, (a snowmobile stunt team) and you see them doing jumps off mountains in Alaska. They are amazing.
The snowmobile scene was my favorite in the movie,"Vin Diesel said.
Michelle too can't stop talking about the amazing work the all the stunt directors have done in Babylon A.D.
''Each stunt team leader has his own style and commitment, and as someone who's always appreciated the various martial art forms, I had a great time working with them,'' she said.
The director of the film Mathieu Kassovitz hired the best action teams and stunt coordinators to make the action sequences look completely out of this world. Adding to the charm is the fact that Vin Diesel ('xXx', 'Fast And The Furious fame') is an established action hero in Hollywood and Michelle Yeoh ('Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon', ' The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor', 'Sunshine' fame), an international star in her own right, is an acclaimed martial arts performer. Even Jackie Chan jokingly claims that she is the only woman he is 'scared' of.
'Babylon A.D' is being distributed in India by Fox Star Studios, a joint venture between International production house Twentieth Century Fox and Asian media company Star to produce local language films in Asia for worldwide distribution and for the distribution of movies produced by Fox Studios, the US.
