Alphonsamma's relics to installed in Alphonsa Chapel on Oct 12

Kottayam, Oct 9 (UNI) The holy relics of Alphonsamma would be installed in Alphonsa chapel at Ayarkunnam on October 12 when she is canonized by Pope Benedict XIV.

At a news conference here today Fr Savior Mundattuchundayil, vicar of the church said the primary relics allotted to the chapel attached to the church would be taken in a procession from Bharanaganam on October 11 in a decorated chariot accompanied by hundreds of vehicles to Ayarkunnam church. On canonization day, the relics would be taken in a procession to the chapel for installation, he said.

A chapel in the name of blessed Alphonsamma was set up on March 29,1987. Later, the chapel was renovated and Changanacherry Archbishop Mar Joseph Powathil conducted the dedication service on May 5, 1991. Hundreds of devotees are visiting the chapel to offer novena prayer to Alphonsamma.
