1.5 lakh pilgrims visit Kangra temple in Navratra
Dharamshala, Oct 9 (UNI) More than 1.5 lakh pilgrims visited the Bajjreshwari temple in Kangra town, one of the 52 Shakti peeths, during the nine-day Navratra festival, which concluded yesterday.
Temple Officer RS Sharma said pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Bihar and Uttarakhand visited the shrine during the last nine days and the festival went off peacefully.
He said during the first seven days of the Navratra, pilgrims offered Rs 15 lakh cash, 58 gms of gold and 4.5 kgs of silver before the deity while paying obeisance.
This year the security was tightest ever in all the three shrines of Kangra, Jwalamukhi and Chamunda Devi in this district.
Metal detectors were used to check all the pilgrims visiting these shrines and bomb detection squads were carrying routine checks within the temple premises daily.
