A quarter of takeaway curries contain 'harmful chemicals'
London, Oct 8 : More than one in four takeaway curries contain illegal and potentially harmful levels of laboratory-created chemicals, a UK survey has found.
The researchers came to the conclusion after a survey of 66 curries, which found that 27 per cent used illegally high levels of artificial colour.
One contained five times the permitted amount of colouring -equivalent to 3.6kg (8lb) of brightly coloured sweets - the study found, reports the Scotsman.
The colourings are limited because they can induce hyperactivity in children.
The samples were taken in West Yorkshire.
