Prez, VP greet people on Dussehra

New Delhi, Oct 8 (UNI) President Pratibha Patil, Vice President Mohd Hamid Ansari and Defence Minister A K Antony have greeted the people of the country on the occasion of Dussehra which will be celebrated tomorrow.

In her message, the President has said,''On the occasion of Dusshera, I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to all my fellow citizens. Dusshera symbolises the victory of good over evil.

May this day bring peace, prosperity and happiness to the people of the nation.'' In a statement on the eve of the festival, the Vice President appealed to the people to celebrate the festival in its true spirit to usher in peace, prosperity and happiness.

''The traditional festivities and rituals of Dussehra reaffirm our faith in the sublime and universal values in life. It inspires us to strive towards a just, peaceful and harmonious society," he said.

Defence Minister A K Antony said Vijaya Dashmi symbolises the eternal triumph of good over evil. He said the festival reminds us to tread the path of righteousness and overcome the negative forces prevailing the society.

The Minister has also greeted the civilian employees of the Ministry of Defence and Defence Public Sector Undertakings and their family members on the occasion.
