Man slapped with fine for smoking in hospital
Shivpuri, MP, Oct 8 (UNI) For the first time in the country after a new law banning smoking at public places came into force, a man was slapped with a fine of Rs 200 for daring to smoke in a public place at the district hospital premises here.
Amarlal, an attendant of a patient in surgical ward of district hospital here, was caught smoking 'bidi' in the ward by Dr Govind Singh during inspection last evening, the hospital sources said here today.
The attendant was slapped with fine immediately on the spot.
Dr Singh was a member of the team constituted to take action against the smokers at the hospital premises.
Recently, the Centre has issued directive to impose fine on smokers violating the ban at public places.
