Former K'taka Minister and State JD(S) President Mirajuddin died
Gulbarga, Oct 7 (UNI) Former Karnataka Minister and State Janata Dal (Secular) President Mirajuddin Patel died of a massive heart attack at a Private hospital here today.
He was 53. He was survived by his wife and seven daughters.
Mr Patel, who was here to address party workers, collapsed and complained about chest pain. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital where doctors declared as dead due to massive heart attack.
Mr Patel had served as Minister for Animal Husbandry in the previous JD(S)-BJP government headed by H D Kumaraswamy. He had a also served as Minister of Wakf Congress-JD(S) coalition government headed by N Dharam Singh.
He had represented Humnabad in the Legislative Assembly by winning elections in 1994 and 1999.
The body was shifted to his home town in Humnabad in Bidar District where the last rites will be held tomorrow.
Former Prime Minister and JD(S) National President H D Deve Gowda and former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy are expected to attend the last rites, party sources told UNI.
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa condoled the death of Mr Patel.
In a message he said "Mr Patel who started his political career from Bidar gradually rose to become a State Level Leader including the State President of Janata Dal (S). In his death the state has lost a popular leader who strived for public good". "I pray the almighty to give enough strength for the bereaved family members to bear the grief" he added in his condolence message.
