Vadodara, Oct 8 (UNI) Panic gripped this communally sensitive walled city areas after a crude bomb exploded near a government school at Hathikhana this afternoon, and three more were defused.
According to police, the bomb went off when a local kid picked up the explosive from a garbage box and started playing with it. While the child managed to escape unhurt, one vehicle parked there was partially damaged.
Police and bomb disposal squad immediately rushed to the spot and recovered three more live crude bombs from the garbage and defused.
Forensic experts also examined the spot.
Following the incident, classes in the school were immediately suspended as a precautionary measure and a massive search operation was undertaken by the police in the entire area.
Confirming the blast, city police commissioner Rakesh Asthana said police had recovered three low-intensity crude bombs and investigating into the matter.
The city has received numerous bomb threats since the July 26 serial bomb blasts in Ahmedabad.
