AP to give 22% IR for state govt employees
Hyderabad, Oct 8 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Government today agreed to provide 22 per cent Interim Relief (IR) to its employees following the talks held between the government and the representatives of the Joint Action Council (JAC) here.
The JAC representatives held discussions with Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and Finance Minister K Rosaiah in this regard.
JAC Secretary-General P Subbarayan told UNI that the government had agreed to provide 15 per cent IR from October one this year and 22 per cent from January 2009.
However, out of 22 per cent from January one to March 31, 2009, seven per cent would be credited to employees GPF and the government would give full 22 per cent from April 2009 to the employees.
He said nearly 10 lakh state government employees, including teachers and staff of the state organisations like APSRTC, would be benefitted by the government's decision.
In view of the settlement with the government, the JAC had cancelled all its agitational programmes.
Mr Rosaiah said the decision would cost the exchequer Rs 2,600 crore.
