Bhopal, Oct 8 (UNI) Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh has urged Railway Minister Lalu Prasad to take strict action against guilty Railway Police Force (RPF) officials for assaulting BJP MP Veerendra Kumar.
In a letter to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Mr Singh said,'' strict action must be taken against guilty officials and he was also writing a letter to Mr Prasad in this regard.'' He said the incident took place because of demolition of shops at Bina, in Sagar district.
The incident had raised questions whether RPF officials had the authority to demolish shops, whether local police and district administration was informed and what was the local administration doing when there was tension prevailing even before the incident,'' Mr Singh added.
Mr Singh said probe into the incident must be carried out and responsibility of local administration fixed.
The BJP MP was attacked and injured by the RPF officials on October 3 while they were trying to stop encroachment near Bina station in Sagar district. A case was registered against six people, including a RPF commandant and a Government Railway Police Station House Officer.
Mr Kumar is, meanwhile, receiving treatment at Hamidia hospital in the state capital.
