Terrorism has affected tourism marginally: Ambika Soni
Attari-Wagah, Oct 7 (UNI) Union Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni today said tourism in the country had marginally been affected by the recent terrorist activities.
"After all such activities do have an affect everywhere, even if it is marginal", she said while talking to mediapersons after inagurating the Aman Umeed Yatri Complex at this border road checkpost with Pakistan.
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal was also present on the occasion. The complex which will be run on Private Public Partnership (PPP) mode and would provide the best of residential as well as catering facilities to tourists visiting the checkpost and to those crossing or coming over from the Pakistan side.
The renovation of the complex was done at a cost of Rs 1.60 crore. It will be jointly run by the Punjab Tourism Corporation and a private party of Amritsar.
Ms Soni said that the police in the country had been instructed to take special care of the foreign tourists and ensure their protection. In this context she pointed to the alleged molestation case of a German national in Chandigarh and the quick arrest of the alleged accused.
