New Delhi, Oct 7 (UNI) Warm and sultry weather conditions today persisted in Delhi for the second consecutive day this week with the mercury in the city shooting up to 36.4 degrees Celsius.
Bright sunlight and a high humidity level of 87 per cent led to a rise in the maximum temperature, from 35.5 Degree Celsius yesterday, to 36.4 degrees C, two degrees above normal.
The minimum was also recorded three degrees above normal at 24 degrees Celsius.
Some relief from warm and humid weather conditions could, however, be in offing later this week with weathwermen forecasting temperatures to fall towards the end of the week.
''Under the influence of western disturbance currently lying over Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir, isolated to scattered precipitation is likely over western Himalayan region during next 48 hours. Subsequently with the eastward movement of Western disturbance, temperatures particularly night are likely to exhibit a decreasing trend over Northwest and adjoining Central India,''the Met office said.
The met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with possibility of thundry development or light rain in some areas.
They have also forecast a decrease in maximum temperature to 35 Degree C tomorrow.
