Over 700 people missing from relief camps in Bihar
Purnia, Oct 7 (UNI) Over 700 flood victims were missing from the relief camps functioning in Purnia, a survey conducted recently in the district revealed.
According to the survey conducted in 30 government relief camps by the NGOs and social organisations active in Purnia, there were no whereabouts of more than 700 people.
Such count would rise if all the relief camps were surveyed, an NGO informed.
''The missing people were either washed away in the flood water or had taken shelter in relief camps outside the district. The possibility of trafficking cannot be ruled out as children formed the majority of them,'' an NGO office bearer said.
Meanwhile, the district administration said the exact number of missing people was not available, admitting that there were no whereabouts of some flood victims.
