New Delhi, Oct 7 (UNI) More than 600 companies from 40 countries are expected to participate in the mega event 'IMB- World of Textile Processing 2009' to be held in Cologne, Germany, from April 21 to 24 next year.
Koelnmesse GmbH, the organisers of this global event, expects vigorous participation from Indian companies with its vice president Marcus Reetz saying the number will be definitely more than four Indian exhibitors and 170 visitors which came to the last event held in 2006.
IMB 2009 is strengthening its position as the world's leading trade fair for technologies and services for the processing of flexible materials, going beyond its core area of expertise -- clothing -- to include technical areas of application, he told repoters here today.
The event is held after every three years.
The range of products and services at IMB 2009 will include machines and facilities, IT products and services and production processes to distribution. Leather processing, textile machines and ecotechnology will be highlights of the upcoming event, he added.
The Cologne event will showcase latest developments and trends in textile processing and also act as a platform for technology transfer in the sector, said Mr Elgar Straub, Managing Director of the VDMA -- German Garment and Leather Technology Association. The VDMA is strategic partner of IMB.
Thanks to such events in the past, Indian market had evolved for German exports of sewing and garment technology which rose to euro 24.5 million in 2007, an increase of 23 per cent over euro 19.9 million the previous year before, Mr Straub said.
The event presents solutions in the production of clothing, shoes, home textiles, upholstered furniture and technical textiles to professional visitors who throng the fair.
