Chennai, Oct 7: The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) founded by actor-politician Vijayakanth will organise its first youth conference in the city on October 18.
Talking to reporters here today, he alleged that the ruling DMK was trying to place obstacles to the conference by directing private bus operators to return the advance received by them.
''We have booked private buses across the state to transport party workers for the conference. But the Operators are returning the advance paid by us following threats from the state government'', he charged.
He said well grown parties like DMK should be a role model for the growth of new parties like the DMDK. ''The DMK should advise the new parties to grow instead of trying to destroy them''.
Vijayakanth said the party cadres were eagerly looking forward to the conference to be held at the Island Grounds.
Prior to the conference, in which various welfare measures would also be launched and one lakh people given jobs, the DMDK would take out a massive rally.
He sought the cooperation of the Transport department and the police for the successful conduct of the conference, being organised to commemorate the party's fourth founding day and Anna's birth centenary also.
