Chennai, Oct 7 (UNI) The fledgling Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) founded by actor-politician Vijayakanth will disclose its strategy on alliance only at the time of elections.
''Let the election dates be announced. I will disclose the alliance strategy. As on date there is no change in party's stand on forging alliance with the ''people'' of Tamil Nadu'', Vijayakanth told newspersons here.
Asked abut the Left party leaders meeting him and the DMDK extending its support to the one-day fast organised by the CPI to condemn the attack on innocent Tamils in Sri Lanka, he said the meeting was only a courtesy call as the DMDK and the Left Parties have similar views on several issues.
''As far as the fast is concerned, the CPI sought our support and we extended it'', Mr Vijayakanth said, refusing to attach much significance.
When persisted further, he shot back : ''Can you tell met when the elections will be held. Let the dates (election) be announced. Then the talk of whether to go it alone or to have truck with some parties will come''.
''As of now there is no change in the party's stand on having alliance with the people'', he added.
On the Sri-lankan Tamils issue, Mr Vijayakanth said ceasefire should be announced to prevent killing of innocent Tamils. ''The Tamils and Sinhalese should sit together and arrive at a solution that is best suited for them and it should be supported by the Indian Government''.
He described as ''routine rituals'', Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi writing letters and speaking to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi whenever the issue surfaced, without taking any concrete steps despite becoming Chief Minister for five times and raising his voice for the Tamils since 1956.
