Agartala, Oct 7 (UNI) Three more people were arrested in connection with the October one Agartala serial blasts during the past 48 hours, including an Imam of a local mosque near the city.

According to police, the CID team arrested Bilal Ahamed (26) of Karimganj district in Assam from Nagicherra suspecting his involvement in the seven blasts that that wounded over 80 people. He had been remanded in 10 day police custody.

West Agartala police had also nailed two others identified as Tarun Debbarma (25) and Lalit Koloi (26) in this connection from Radhanagar yesterday.

The police had earlier apprehended four people, including three Bangladeshis, suspecting their involvement in the serial blasts.

Tripura state Jamiat Ulama (Hind), meanwhile, protested the arrest of the Imam, while it's president Mufti Tayebur Rahman alleged that the police had been harassing religious leaders without proving their involvement in disruptive activities.

''It is not only a human atrocity on the Muslims, but also breaking the communal harmony in the state and we urge the government to stop it immediately,'' Said Mr Rahman demanding security of about 62 imams who are Indians, but came here from different states.

He also sought Chief Minister's intervention on the issue and demanded to ensure security to the community, including Imams and other religious leaders.
