Kurukshetra, Oct 6 (UNI) A local court today handed down life imprisonment to three youths for killing one of their friend in 2007.
District and sessions judge RC Bansal awarded life imprisonment to the three accused Labh Singh, Vikram Singh and Mohan Lal of Khanpur Rodan village after they were held guilty for killing their friend, Nasib Singh of the same village.
According to prosecution, the three accused alongwith their friend Nasib had gone to Kurukshetra to visit a fair on October 21, 2007. All the four youths consumed liquor and later the three accused strangulated Nasib with a rope and threw his body sans clothes in the Habri canal.
The court held the trio guilty under section 302/34 of the IPC and sentenced life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 5,000 each.
The court also held them guilty of destroying the evidence by throwing the naked body in running canal water under section 201/34 of the IPC and sentenced them two years jail with fine of Rs 1000 each. Both the punishments will run concurrently.
