The Dalai Lama to undergo medical check up in Delhi
Dharamshala, Oct 6 (UNI) Tibetan spiritual leader and temporal head the Dalai Lama was today flown to New Delhi by a chartered plane for a medical check up.
The Dalai Lama, who was looking weak and was driven straight to the aircraft, would undergo the check up tomorrow.
However, his personal secretary, Tenzin Tekla refused to divulge, for security reasons, the name of the hospital.
Mr Tekla described the medical check up of the spiritual leader as a routine one. He said the Dalai Lama would return to Dharamshala on Thursday.
Meanwhile, due to indisposition, the Nobel Laureate cancelled his visit to Basel, Switzerland, where he was scheduled to inaugurate the first Europe Tibet Congress to be held from October 11 to 12.
Tibetan Government in Exile Prime Minister Samdhong Rinpoche would now deliver a keynote address at the inaugural day of the Congress.
Earlier, on August 8 the Dalai Lama had undergone treatment at Leelawati Hospital in Mumbai after he complained of restlessness and pain in abdomen.
Due to his bad health, he had cancelled his all engagements for the month of September, including foreign tours to Mexico and Dominican Republic.
He, however, attended a week-long teaching program here last week.
