Mysore, Oct 6(UNI) 'Karnataka Vaibhava', a Sound and Light programme depicting the glory of the erstwhile Vijyanagara empire, its History, Culture, Religious traditions and practices, richness of art and literature, got off to a start as part of the on going dasara festivities here.
This mega show, jointly organised by the Mysore Dasara Festivities Committee and the Music and Drama section of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
About 100 artists and theater activists, opened up the pages of History, through recreating various historical events by their unique performance on 12 theater stages erected across the ground.
The artists recreated the glory of the country's history beginning from the rule of king Ashoka and through the ages of Kadamaba, Chalukya, Rasthrakuta, Hoysala Dynasties and ending with Vijyanagara Kingdom.
Tippu Sultan's war against the British, the bravery of Kittur Rani Chennamma and landmark incidents in the freedom struggle such as Jallianwallah Bagh massacre, Dandi Yatra, Quit India (Chale Jao) movement, were the main attraction along with dance, magnificent performances and good music background.
