Rain mars Indian Cricket team's practice

Bangalore, Oct 6(UNI) Afternoon rains played a spoil sport for the Indian Cricket team who were supposed to take up field practice in preparation for the first Test against Australia beginning here from October Nine.

The players, barring Sourav Ganguly, leg spinner Amit Mishra and R P Singh arrived here by this afternoon. The Indian players were scheduled to undergo a practice session at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the venue for the Test. However, rains in the afternoon put paid to their aspirations to further hone up their skills.

Sourav, who played for India 'A' in a match against New Zealand that concluded at Chennai yesterday, was expected to arrive tonight.

Amit and Singh were also expected to arrive later in the evening.

The players had undergone a five-day camp from September 29 to October three and had gone home to reassemble today.
