Pandit Gautam bags 'Rajya Sangeetha Vidwan' award
Mysore, Oct 6 (UNI) Renowned Hindustani vocalist Pundit M R Gautam has been selected for this year's prestigious 'Rajya Sangeetha Vidwan' award by the Karnataka Government.
The award, carrying a cash prize of Rs one lakh and a citation, would be presented by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on October 8.
Pundit Gautam, a disciple of Pundit Rama Rao and a PhD in music, had not only served as Head of the Department of music at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), but also as a Vice-Chancellor of Indira Kala Sangeetha University at Khyragarh.
He has also won State Sangeetha Nrutya Academy award.
