Gelatin sticks found in Igatpuri

Nashik, Oct 6 (UNI) A stock of gelatin sticks was found in Titoli village of Igatpuri taluka of the district today.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police raided the house of one Amol Bonde in Titoli village today and seized 1,338 gelatin sticks from his possession. Amol and his two associates, Shantaram Mali, resident of Titoli and Vithoba Dhavle, resident of Khardi, district Thane have been arrested and a case has been registered against them under the Indian Ammunition Act for possessing ammunition without license.

The Class II gelatin sticks belonging to Solar Explosive Company in Nagpur were in possession of Zaheer Ahmed Khan, owner of ZAK Enterprises, a private explosive licence holder engaged in business of land mining. 10 boxes containing 200 gelatin sticks each had been stolen from trucks of the company a month ago.

Amol and his associates sold 662 of the total 2,000 gelatin sticks. Out of these 1,338 have been seized and search for the remaining is on. However, a case will be filed against Khan also who did not report the theft of the explosives to the police, sources said.
